Hello, wonderful readers!

Last week was a whirlwind of activity for me! I had family visiting, and our house was busy and a little bit chaotic as we enjoyed the company of my sister-in-law and her two small children, both under 8 years old. It was questions, questions, observations, food, games ...and more questions! Phew!

By the way, have you noticed how smart children are these days? They ask the most pertinent questions, and notice EVERYTHING. I had to get really creative to keep them engaged!

Speaking of creativity, this 3rd edition of The Fab Folio Newsletter talks about "The Power Of Creativity". Creativity is at the root of all innovation - the exciting, supersonic ingredient that transforms the mundane into something extraordinary! It's a superpower that lies within each and every one of us. Today, we're going to delve into the exciting world of creativity and explore how it can unlock additional value in your life and business. So strap on your imagination caps and prepare for an enlightening journey!

💡Why is Creativity So Important?

1. It fuels innovation: Creativity ignites new ideas and is at the foundation of unconventional thinking. Without it, businesses become stagnant, unable to keep up with the ever-evolving landscape of the market, and our individual lives become so boring, repetitive, and monotonous. We also wouldn't be able to explore the extent of what is possible without creativity.

2. It captures attention: In a world filled with constant noise and distractions, creativity helps you stand out, capturing your audience's attention and making your message memorable.

3. It fosters problem-solving: Creativity empowers you to see problems from fresh new angles, enabling you to come up with innovative solutions that others either cannot see or may have overlooked.

"Creativity is intelligence having fun."

-Albert Einstein

So now, let's dive into the fun part!

💼 How Do We Unlock Additional Value with Creativity?

1. Look out for, and embrace diverse perspectives: Surround yourself with people from different backgrounds, experiences, and expertise. This diversity of thought will bring fresh ideas and provide unique insights that can revolutionize the status quo.

2. Encourage a culture of experimentation: Allow yourself and your team to take risks and try new things. Failure is not the enemy- it’s a stepping stone to success. As Thomas Edison wisely quipped, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."

3. Create an environment that nurtures creativity: Provide a space where you or your team can feel free to think outside the box. Break down barriers, listen to all ideas, and encourage collaboration, as innovation often blossoms when different ideas collide!

💬What Famous People Have to Say…

"You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have."

- Maya Angelou

"Creativity is contagious, pass it on."

- Albert Einstein

"The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination."

- Albert Einstein

Now, hold onto your hats as we plunge into a few creative success stories that will inspire you!

😄Tales of Unexpected Creative Genius

1. The "Post-it" Note Phenomenon: Did you know that the iconic Post-it note was actually a result of a "failed" attempt to make adhesive? A scientist at 3M was trying to create a super-strong adhesive but ended up with one that was just the right amount of sticky. Thus, the Post-it note was born, bringing joy to countless to-do lists and office pranks.

2. The Pet Rock: In the 1970s, an advertising executive named Gary Dahl hit upon the bizarre idea of packaging a pet rock with a manual, complete with instructions on how to care for it. Surprisingly, this novelty item became a massive hit, selling over 1.5 million rocks and making Dahl a millionaire overnight. Think about it ...a PET ROCK! Talk about thinking outside the box.

Remember, creativity is not limited to a select few. It resides within all of us, waiting to be unleashed. So take another look at that project, that business, that job, that problem that seems to defy any solution. Embrace your creative powers, explore new options, new horizons, and watch as you begin to see new ways of unlocking value in your life and business.

"The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday's logic."

-Peter Drucker

Final thoughts

The entire innovation process starts with creativity, so if you want your business and life to reap the benefits of innovation, you have to let your creative juices flow. Don't keep doing things the same way and think you will get unusual results. The world has changed, so to thrive in the midst of all the uncertainty and change, we need to reach into the storehouse of creativity that is in us, and begin to draw forth new solutions to the unique problems we face today that probably didn't exist a hundred years ago. Do this, and watch how new solutions, life hacks, business models, products, services, and new value emerge!

I will say more about the innovative process in our next edition. Until then, keep those creative juices flowing, stay innovative, and multiply value!

Patricia.
